Heil's PR 30 is an excellent dynamic microphone with a clear natural response and midrange presence. The PR 30 is designed for close-range applications and is well suited for capturing vocals of all kinds, from podcasting and voiceover to singing, whether at home, on stage, or in the studio. The PR 30 can handle extremely high sound pressure levels without overload. Equally placed ports detect audio from behind the source in the phasing plug assembly, which enters them out of phase, resulting in a linear cardioid pattern. The proximity effect is reduced while achieving natural and smooth articulation across its wide 40 Hz-18 kHz response. With Heil Sound's PR 30 and PR 40, pop protection has been improved thanks to two metal screens designed to absorb breath waves. This eliminates the need for external pop filters. A very coarse acoustically transparent foam is mounted on top of the element.
